December 2nd to 7th - A double round of games this week saw the title race turned on its head. Emi Buendia scored an injury time winner on Saturday as Aston Villa beat the leaders Arsenal two-one at Villa Park. Unai Emery's current side are now just three points behind his old side. It's a far cry from early on Wednesday when Villa trailed Brighton two-nil - they came back to win that game four-three and are now in a great position in the table. Two wins for Man City leave them second in the table just two points off the lead - they won a bizarre game five-four at Fulham on Tuesday night and had a more straightforward three-nil win at home to Sunderland on Saturday. Chelsea had a bad week - a three-one defeat at Leeds and a nil-all draw at Bournemouth suggest that talk of a title challenge are a little premature maybe. Those results saw Enzo Maresca's side drop to fourth, eight points off the leaders. Two wins for Everton saw them climb the table - Jack Grealish scored a late winner at Bournemouth on Tuesday night and they made it an unhappy homecoming for Sean Dyche as Nottingham Forest were dispatched three-nil at the Dicky Hill on Saturday. Liverpool drew twice this week - a one-all draw at home to Sunderland was followed by a three-all draw at Leeds where they squandered a two goal lead and two valuable points. Mo Salah's strop after the game overshadowing a two goal performance from Hugo Ekitike. Crystal Palace finished the weekend in fourth spot. Oliver Glasner's side won twice on the road this week - a one-nil win at Burnley and a two-one win at Fulham where Marc Guehi headed home a late winner. Sunday's other game saw West Ham pick up a point after a one-all draw at Brighton. That was their second one-all draw of the week having scored a late equaliser at Man United on Thursday. Six ten-pointers on the weekend saw Darren O'Gorman take the lead in the December competition with a score of 82 points. He has a six point lead over Gavin Morgan in second place. Jason Maloney and Keith Ryan share third spot - full details below: |

December 13th and 14th - Wolves scored three times at the Emirates - unfortunately for the old gold, two were own goals as Arsenal scraped a two-one win deep in injury time on Saturday night. The bottom side equalised in the 90th minute only for Yerson Mosquera to put through his own net a couple of minutes later. Man City remain just two points behind the leaders - Erling Haaland scored two more as City won three-nil at Crystal Palace on Sunday. Aston Villa are the form team in the division - they won for a ninth successive game, beating West Ham three-two. Morgan Rogers' double ensured Unai Emery's side remain in third place. Chelsea are fourth - they picked three points from a two-nil win at home to Evertn - Cole Palmer among the scorers in that one. Crisis club Liverpool (© Jamie Carragher) are up to sixth in the table and five games unbeaten - Hugo Ekitike scored both goals in a two-nil win over Brighton at Anfield. Mo Salah came off the bench to set up one of the goals, moving ahead of Wayne Rooney in the Premier League goals / assists overall table. There was another own goal in the Tyne Wear Derby - Nick Woltemande sent a towering header into his own net as Sunderland beat Newcastle by a goal to nil at the Stadium of Light. Elsewhere this weekend, Callum Hudson-Odoi scored twice as Nottingham Forest beat Spurs three-nil. Sean Dyche's side are now five points clear of the relegation zone. Burnley suffered their twelfth defeat of the season - they lost three-two at home to Fulham on Saturday evening. Sunday's final game saw the points shared as Brentford and Leeds drew one-all - Jordan Henderson's opener was cancelled out by Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late header. Gavin Morgan has climbed from second place last week to top the monthly leaderboard this weekend. He's six points clear of Craig Calvert in second place with Helen Fadian still in contention a couple of points further back. Aidan White has climbed to fourth with last week's leader, Darren O'Gorman, now fifth - full details below: |

December 20th and 21st - Arsenal will top the table at Christmas after a one-nil win at Everton on Saturday night. The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot - Viktor Gyokeres scoring after an inexplicable handball from Jake O'Brien. Man City remain just two points behind - Erling Haaland scored twice as West Ham were brushed aside, three-nil at the Etihad. Aston Villa are third in the table - Morgan Rogers bagged a double as Man United were beaten two-one at Villa Park - that's ten wins on the bounce for Unai Emery's side - not bad for a team that took five games to record their first goal of the season! Chelsea needed a second half comeback to earn a point at Newcastle. Nick Woltemande scored twice at the right end this week to give Eddie Howe's side a two-nil half time lead. However, goals from Reece James and Joao Pedro gave the Londoners a point. Liverpool moved level on points with them after a two-one win at Tottenham. In a reversal of the game a couple of seasons ago, it was the hosts who ended up with nine men after red cards for Simons and Romero. Goals from Ekitike and Isak gave Arne Slot's side a two goal lead before Richarlison pulled one back for the home side, all to no avail. Two of the Saturday afternoon games ended in draw. Brighton and Sunderland failed to muster a goal between them at the Amex. It finished one-all further along the South Coast where Bournemouth and Burnley met - Antoine Semenyo's opener was cancelled out by Armnado Broja's late leveller. Towards the bottom, there was another defeat for Wolves - the bottom side lost two-nil at home to Brentford. Keane Lewis-Potter scored both goals for Keith Andrews' side. Leeds United moved six points clear of the bottom three after beating Crystal Palace four-one at Elland Road - it's now six goals in five games for a revitalised Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored twice in that one. Gavin Morgan still leads the December competition - he has a five point lead over both Helen Fadian and Jason Maloney who share second place. Frank McSweeney picked up an excellent 61 points this week to climb to fourth with Tommy Walsh completing the top five ahead of the Christmas programme: |

December 27th and 28th - The top three all won by the same scoreline, two-one, to maintain the status quo at the top of the table. Leaders Arsenal beat Brighton with an own goal by Georginio Rutter the difference between the teams at the Emirates. Man City won at the City Ground - Rayan Cherki's late winner keeping Pep Guardiola's side in touch with the leaders. Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score two late goals as Aston Villa came from behind to win two-one at Chelsea. Unai Emery's side visit Arsenal midweek in a game which could have huge significance on the title race. Chelsea's defeat allowed Liverpool to climb to fourth in the table. The Reds looked to be cruising after scoring two goals in a minute from Gravenberch and Wirtz. However, it ended up as another nervy two-one win when the bottom side pulled a goal back in the second half. On the positive side, that's seven games unbeaten for Arne Slot's side now. Man United are also well placed for a European push. Patrick Dorgu scored his first goal for the club in a one-nil win over faltering Newcastle on Friday night. Elsewhere, Kevin Schade scored a hat-trick as Brentford beat Bournemouth four-one. West Ham's survival hopes were dealt a hammer blow (sorry...) as Raul Jiminez scored a late winner for Fulham at the London Stadium - their second one-nil win of the week after beating Nottingham Forest on Monday night. Sunderland and Leeds drew one-all at the Stadium of Light. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's equaliser was the sixth game in a row he's scored in. With just six games left in December, Gavin Morgan holds a seven point lead over Tommy Walsh in second place. Anastas Popov needs a couple of ten-pointers to have a chance of catching them. Carl Toner is fourth for the month with five people sharing fifth place - full details below: |

December 30th - 2025 ended with Arsenal laying down a serious marker for their title credentials in 2026. Aston Villa arrived to the Emirates on the back of eleven consecutive victories and talk of a title challenge. However, all such talk was put on hold as Mikel Arteta's side ran out four-one winners to go five points clear. Man City travel to Sunderland on New Year's night needing a win to keep in touch. Enzo Maresca's time in charge of Chelsea came to an end after they drew at home to Bournemouth. Despite being in the top five and doing well in Europe, one win in six in the league wasn't enough to keep him in a job. Everton climbed to eighth in the table - they won two-nil at Nottingham Forest with goals from James Garner and Thierno Barry. Wolves came to Old Trafford on the back of twelve defeats in a row. Recent performances had improved though and Rob Edwards side took a point from the ever-obliging Man United. Joshua Zirkzee gave the hosts a lead but Ladislav Krejci's equaliser saw the visitors earn just their third point of the season. Elsewhere, Newcastle picked up a much needed win - Eddie Howe's side won three-one at Burnley to climb into the top half of the table. Tuesday's final game saw the points shared at the London Stadium where West Ham and Brighton drew two-all. Gavin Morgan has been top of the December leaderboard since the second weekend so it's appropriate he held on to win the monthly competition. He had twelve points to spare over Tommy Walsh who finished second. Carl Toner, Anastas Popov and Jason Maloney completed the top five for December: |
