April 1st and 2nd - The top two both recorded four-one home wins to maintain the status quo at the top of the table. The early kick-off saw Man City recover from Mo Salah's opener to beat Liverpool four-one. Erling Haaland was out injured but that had no bearing as Alvarez, De Bruyne, Gundogan and Grealish all scored for the champions. Arsenal responded in kind - the returning Gabriel Jesus was among the scorers, finding the net twice in their four-one win at home to Leeds. The gap remains at eight points with City having a game in hand. Arsenal have now won seven league games in a row. Man United will be anxiously looking over their shoulders after a two-nil defeat at Newcastle. Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson saw Eddie Howe's side climb above the visitors on goal difference. A win for Spurs at Everton tomorrow night will see Erik Ten Haag's side drop out of the top four, heaping pressure on the beleagured Dutch manager. Three managers have departed their posts since the last up date. As well as Antonio Conte leaving Spurs, both Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter collected P45's today. Leicester dropped into the bottom three after an injury time winner for Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. 95 year old Roy Hodgson returned to lead his team to victory and climb to twelfth in the table, four points clear of the drop zone. A two-nil defeat at home to Aston Villa was the final straw for the Chelsea board as Graham Potter departed on Sunday night. There were a few interesting results in the relegation battle too. Dominic Solanke scored a late winner to give Bournemouth a two-one win at home to Fulham. West Ham won a relegation six pointer too - they beat Southampton by a goal to nil on Sunday afternoon. A late Daniel Podence equaliser gave Wolves a very useful point at Nottingham Forest. It also finished all square at the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Brentford shared six goals. The first weekend of April sees Ciaran Rooney take an early lead with 42 points. He has a one point lead over Gerry Moore in second place. Ciaran O'Hart is a point further back in third place. A number of people share fourth place on 37 points - full details below: |

April 8th and 9th - A dramatic day at Anfield say Arsenal surrender a two goal lead and two points. The leaders were very quick out of the blocks as goals from Martinelli and Jesus saw them open up a two-nil lead. Some handbags between Granit Xhaka and Trent Alexander Arnold seemed to spark a bit of fight in Liverpool and the crowd and the game changed completely. Mo Salah pulled a goal back before missing a penalty. Roberto Firmino then headed a late equaliser after which Arsenal were left clinging on for a point. Man City recorded a four-one win at Southampton which leaves the gap at six points with the Manchester side having a game in hand. It looks like Arsenal might need to avoid defeat at the Etihad on April 26th to keep their title ambitions on track. Newcastle and Man Urinals hold the upper hand in the race for the top four. Newcastle's winning run continued when they came from behind to beat Brentford two-one, their third win in a week. Man United had also beaten Brentford midweek before beating Everton two-nil on Saturday. Both clubs are on 56 points, three clear of Tottenham with a game in hand. Spurs beat Brighton two-one in a controversial game where VAR made the headlines again. At the bottom, wins for Bournemouth and West Ham moved them both three points clear of the bottom three. Bournemouth won one-nil at Leicester with West Ham winning by the same score at Fulham. Nottingham Forest are in the bottom three on goal difference after a two-nil defeat at Aston Villa. Leeds slumped to a five-one defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday which doesn't bode well for their survival prospects. They remain two points clear of the drop zone while Crystal Palace are now up to twelfth in the table - the Hodgson Effect indeed! Three people share the lead in the April competition after the midweek and weekend games. Aidan White, replicating Aston Villa's good form, shares the lead on 122 points with Gareth Pierpoint and Niall Carroll. There's a nine point gap back to Anastas Popov with fifth place shared by Graham Pierpoint and Jonathan Fox: |

April 15th and 16th - For the second Sunday in a row Arsenal surrendered a two goal lead and had to settle for a point. This weekend they lead two-nil at West Ham in the first ten minutes with Gabriel Jesus and Odeegard on target. A Said Benrahma penalty halved the deficit before the break. Bukayo Saka then missed from the spot before Jarrod Bowen fired home a volley to earn a point for the Hammers. Arsenal's lead is now just four points (having played a game more) after Man City beat Leicester three-one on Saturday evening. Erling Haaland scored twice as City were three-up at half-time before Leicester scored a consolation in the second half. There seems to be a familiar inevability about Pep Guardiola's side chasing down their prey before winning another title... Man United took a big step towards a return to the Champions League. They won two-nil at Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon with goals from Antony and Dalot. They're six points clear of Spurs in fifth place who somehow contrived to lose three-two at home to Bournemouth despite equalising very late on in the ninety. If United avoid defeat in London on Thursday week then they'll pretty much guarantee a top four finish. Newcastle's winning run came to an end at Aston Villa. They lost three-nil with Ollie Watkins scoring twice for Unai Emery's resurgent side. At the bottom, there were the usual winners and losers. Southampton are marooned in 20th place after a two-nil defeat at home to Crystal Palace. Palace look safe now, nine points clear of the relegation zone with seven games to play. Everton are only outside the bottom three on goal difference - they were beaten three-one at home by Fulham. Wolves also moved clear of danger with a two-nil win at home to Brentford. You'd imagine one more win will see them safe... It's a second week at the top for Aston Villa fan Aidan White - the Unai Emery effect also rubbing off on the fans it seems. Jonathan Fox is in second place, five points back. Anastas Popov is now third. Fourth place is ahred by four people - Ciaran Rooney, Graham Pierpoint, John Massey and Phil Doyle - full details below: |

April 21st to 23rd - It's three games without a win for leaders Arsenal. With Man City distracted by FA Cup action, the Gunners missed a great chance to open a seven point lead at the top. They had to settle for a point in a three-all draw with the bottom side Southampton. It could have been a lot worse for Mikel Arteta's side who trailed three-one very late on before rescuing a point. the top two meet on Thursday night at the Etihad with Arsenal needing a positive result to keep their challenge alive. Newcastle cemented their Champions League spot with an emphatic six-one hammering of Tottenham. Eddie Howe's side were five up after twenty minutes after Spurs capitulated on Tyneside. Spurs are now six points off the Champions League places having played a game more than the teams around them. Aston Villa's recent winning run came to an end when they drew one-all at Brentford - Douglas Luiz cancelling out Ivan Toney's opener. Two wins in six days have breathed some life into Liverpool's European aspirations. A six-one win at Leeds was followed up with a nervy three-two win at home to Nottingham Forest. Diogo Jota scored a double in both games, a timely return to form for the Portuguese forward. Liverpool have games in hand to go fifth in the table but the top four seems a bridge too far at this stage. Everton's nil-all draw at Crystal Palace saw them drop into the bottom three. Leicester moved ahead of them when they came from behind to beat Wolves. Leed's form is alarming though - they followed up that trouncing at home to Liverpool with a two-one defeat at Fulham. At this stage it looks like three from five for the drop... Jonathan Fox leads the monthly competition now - he's five points clear of Graham Pierpoint with just the midweek games to go in April. Aidan White dropped to third place over the weekend followed by Anastas Popov and Joe Behan completing the top five. Full details below: |

April 25th to 30th - A double round of games saw Man City take a firm grip on top spot. The big game of the week saw Arsenal visit the Etihad and leave with their tail between their legs and title aspirations shot to pieces. City won four-one and duly won two-one at Fulham to move to the top of the table for the first time since February 17th. City's lead is one point with a game in hand but Arsenal will have a chance to return to the top for a day at least when they host Chelsea on Tuesday. Newcastle and Man United look odds on for top four finishes. Eddie Howe's side are in third place after a four-one win at Everton and a three-one win at home to Southampton. United let a two goal lead slip against Tottenham, drawing two-all but beat Aston Villa one-nil on Sunday. Liverpool's late season revival looks too late for a top four finish. A decent two-one win at West Ham followed by a bonkers four-three win at home to Tottenham saw them climb to fifth in the table. The Europa League final in 2024 is in Dublin, just saying!! At the bottom, Southampton are now cast adrift - as well as that defeat at Newcastle, more damaging was a one-nil loss at home to Bournemouth. The Saints are six points from safety with just four games to go. Things look bleak for Everton too. They travel to Leicester on Monday night in a huge relegation six-pointer. Leicester will move out of the bottom three with a win in that one. Nottingham Forest are a point clear of the bottom three. They beat Brighton three-one and were ahead at Brentford before Josh Dasilva's injury time winner pegged them back. Leeds crashed to a four-one defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday and look like a favourite for relegation too. Jonathan Fox held off a late challenge from Gavin Morgan to win the monthly prize for April. A bumper month saw Jonathan win with 262 points, just five clear of Gavin. Graham Pierpoint finished third followed by Ciaran Rooney and a host of others on 237 points. Full details below: |
