April 2nd and 3rd - The top two both won to leave the gap at the top just one point. Liverpool were top of the table for a grand total of 30 minutes following their two-nil win at home to Watford. Diogo Jota and Fabinho scored the goals in a performance that proved the result is the main thing at this time of the season. Man City went top with a similar victory at Burnley. Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan scored the goals in the first half as City regained top spot. No doubt Sky Sports will be building up the tension ahead of next Sunday's meeting at the Etihad when the top two meet.

Spurs came from a goal behind to beat Newcastle five-one on Sunday. The improvement in their goal difference from that win sees Antonio Conte's side move into fourth spot ahead of Arsenal on goal difference. Mikel Arteta's side have a tricky looking trip to Crystal Palace on Monday night, one of their two games in hand. West Ham and Man United are level on points, three points off top spot. David Moyes recorded a two-one win at home to his old side Everton. Man United were held one all at home to Leciester on Saturday evening - they needed an equaliser from Fred to cancel out Icheanacho's opener.

Norwich City were the only one of the bottom four to pick up a point - they drew nil-all at Brighton. Leeds moved a point nearer to safety following a one-all draw at home with Southampton. Wolves kept their European hopes alive - they beat Aston Villa two-one. The surprise result of the weekend saw Brentford come from behind to beat Chelsea four-one at Stamford Bridge. The influence of Christian Eriksen obvious throughout as the Premier League debutants move closer to another season in the top division.

Brian Mullen was fast out of the traps this month, heading the monthly leaderboard with a score of 50 points. He's closely followed by Frank McSweeney, just three points of the pace. Three people share third place - Cathal Thornton, Dave McGinley and Gerry Moore - full details below:

April 8th to 10th - Super Sunday lived up to its name for once with Man City and Liverpool playing out a two-all draw at the Etihad. City led twice through De Bruyne and Jesus but Liverpool hit back through Jota and Mane. A point each leaves the title race finely poised with Pep Guardiola's side a point clear at the top. With seven games each to go you'd imagine a similar run in to 2019 when City just about held off Liverpool's challenge. There could be a few twists in this tale yet though.

It was a great week for Tottenham in the race for fourth spot. They cantered to a four-nil win at Aston Villa with Son scoring a hat-trick. Two defeats in a week for Arsenal wiped out their advantage - a three-nil defeat at Crystal Palace followed by a two-one defeat at home to Brighton. Defeats for West Ham and Man United made it a perfect weekend for Antonio Conte and his side.

Everton were staring down the barrel of relegation after a three-two defeat at Burnley midweek but a one-nil win at home to Man United on Saturday leaves them four points clear of the bottom three. Burnley couldn't follow up that victory - they lost two-nil at Norwich on Sunday. Leeds won three-nil at Watford on Saturday to give them three points you would imagine would keep them safe for another season.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Chelsea recovered from a bad week to record a six-nil win at Southampton. Newcastle look safe too - Chris Wood's penalty gave them a one-nil win at home to Wolves. Leicester swapped places with opponents Crystal Palace after beating them two-one on Sunday afternoon.

The timely use of a joker scoreline allowed Frank McSweeney to move into first place this weekend. He has a two point lead over Gerry Moore in second place. Gary McGurk has climbed to third in the table. Four people share fourth spot, just seven points off the lead - Brian Mullen, Colm Cahill, Dave McGinley and Gerard McCluskey. Full details below:

April 16th and 17h - With the FA Cup semi-finals taking place at Wembley, the focus was on the battle for fourth place and the relegation battle. Before the weekend, Tottenham had seemed to take a stranglehold on fourth spot. They suffered a setback on Saturday morning though when Brighton were the visitors and stole the points with a one-nil win. Leandro Trossard scored the winner in injury time as Graham Potter's side made it two wins in North London in a week. Let's hope they keep up their good form when they visit Man City on Wednesday night.

Arsenal didn't take advantage though - they slipped to a third consecutive defeat - one-nil at Southampton. Jan Badnerak scored the only goal at St Marys just before half time. Man United hauled themselves back into contention when they won the green and yellow scarves derby against Norwich. Cristiano Ronaldo proved the difference as he scored a hat-trick with United winning by the odd goal in five. Tottenham now have a three point advantage over both their rivals but Arsenal have a game in hand.

At the bottom of the table, things look bleak for both Norwich and Watford. Watford lost two-one to Brentford. Pontus Jannsen headed a 95th minute winner for the Londoners which leaves Watford six points from safety having played two games more than Everton. Burnley, without Sean Dyche in the dugout, took the lead at West Ham and missed a penalty to go two up. The Hammers duly came back for a point. Burnley are now three points behind Everton having played a game more. A win for Everton at home to Leicester on Wednesday night will increase that gap to six points with just six games to go.

Frank McSweeney retains his lead in the April competition - he has a two point lead over John Brophy who picked up 30 points from the weekend's games to climb to second. Three players share third spot ahead of the midweek games - Brian Mullen, Gerry Moore and Paul Moore all lie seven points off the lead - full details below:

April 23rd and 24th - Man City and Liverpool picked up contrasting victories leaves things as they were at the top of the table. City had an easy win at the Etihad against Watford. Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick as the leaders won five-one. Liverpool had to wait an hour to open the scoring against a stubborn Everton side but Andy Robertson's opener was added to by Divock Origi's insurance goal late on to leave the gap at one point.

Everton's latest defeat coupled with two wins for Burnley during the week saw the Merseysiders drop into the relegation zone with just six games to play. Watford look doomed after that hammering at Man City as do Norwich who lost three-nil at home to form side Newcastle. Eddie Howe's side moved into the top half of the table after that win.

Elsewhere, two victories in a week saw Arsenal regain fourth spot. They won four-two at Chelsea on Wednesday night and then inflicted another defeat on Man United on Saturday. They're two points clear of Tottenham who were held goalless by Brentford on Saturday evening. At this stage the battle for the final Champions League spot looks to between the two North London sides with West Ham losing at Chelsea on Sunday.

With all the timing of Andy Robertson arriving at the back post, Paul Moore has moved into the lead in the April competition. A score of 74 points this week sees him climb from fifth to first. Frank McSweeney is now in second place. Third place is shared by Darragh Kenny and Sean O'Mairtin. With just Thursday and Saturday's games to go, I'd sat the monthly prize will go to one of these four:

April 30th - You might be forgiven for thinking you're back in 2019 at the moment. Like Liverpool's unsuccessful chase of Man City in those pre-Covid days, the Manchester side keep responding to the Reds everytime the lead changes hands. Liverpool were up first this weekend and picked up a very good three points winning one-nil at Newcastle. Naby Keita scored the only goal in the 19th minute as Jurgen Klopp's side had a fairly comfortable win in a tough looking game. Man City visited Leeds Saturday evening and cantered to a four-nil win to regain the lead. Goals from Rodri, Ake, Jesus and Fernandinho saw Pep Guardiola's side move a point clear once again.

When Burnley sacked Sean Dyche I didn't think it was a great move. Ten points from twelve later and it shows what I know. Two goals in the last ten minutes at Watford saw Mike Jackson's side pick up another vital win and move five points clear of the drop zone. Everton have two games in hand beginning with Chelsea's visit on Sunday but that's an awful big gap at this time of the season despite the games in hand. Watford, barring a mathematical miracle, are pretty much gone at this stage. Norwich definitely are down - they lost two-nil at Aston Villa and will be back in the Championship next season.

Elsewhere on Saturday, there were a few games you can file under "end of season". Crystal Palace won two-one at Southampton to climb to twelfth in the table. Brighton are ninth after another excellent win on the road - Graham Potter's side won three-nil at Wolves.

Paul Moore held off the challenge of Frank McSweeney to win the April competition by a single point. Sean O'Mairtin finished third, just three points off top spot with Darragh Kenny finishing in fourth place. Full details below:
