October 5th and 6th - Liverpool head into the international break top of the table after a one-nil win at Crystal Palace in the early kick off. Diogo Jota's early goal earned another three points for Arne Slot's side who have won six games from seven so far. The Reds have still only conceded two goals so far despite losing Alisson to an injury in the final quarter. Vitezslav Jaros kept a clean sheet in his first Premier League appearance. Man City and Arsenal remain a point off the lead. Both sides had to battle for wins. City fell behind against Fulham but eventually won out by three goals to two. Arsenal beat Southampton three-one at the Emirates - Southampton were ahead in that one too. Leicester's first victory of the season came after a one-nil win at home to Bournemouth. Everton picked up another point after a nil-all draw at home to Newcastle - the biggest cheer of the night came when former Blue Anthony Gordon saw his spot kick saved by Jordan Pickford towards the end of the first half. Ipswich Town are the only other team without a win so far - they fell to a four-one defeat at West Ham who picked up a much needed win. Two fo Sunday's games ended in draws - Man United picked up a decent point following a nil-all draw at Aston Villa. It did confirm Man United's worst ever start to a Premier League season - they're fourteenth heading into the international break. Chelsea and Nottingham Forest also shared the points after a one-all draw at Stamford Bridge. Comeback of the weekend came in Sunday's final game. Tottenham were two up at half time against Brighton but the hosts came back to win three-two - former Gunner Danny Welbeck heading home the winner. The early leaderboard for October sees John Brophy lead the way on 42 points. He's two points clear of four people - Dylan O'Riordan, Eamonn Gallagher, Gary McGurk and myself (highlight of my season no doubt...). Full details below: |

October 19th and 20th - A busy period for Liverpool began with a two-one win at home to Chelsea. Goals from Mo Salah and Curtis Jones either side of a Nicolas Jackson equaliser maintained the Reds' lead at the top of the table. Man City won by the same scoreline at Wolves earlier on Sunday - they had to come from behind to win with an injury time winner from John Stones. The referee initially disallowed the goal but VAT intervened to give City another three points. Arsenal's unbeaten start to the season came to an end on Saturday night. They finished the game with ten men as Saliba was sent off. Goals inside the final twenty minutes from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert allow the Invicibles to rest easy for another season. On a Saturday of red cards, there were two at Craven Cottage as Aston Villa beat Fulham three-one to return to the top four. Brighton are fifth after a one-nil win at Newcastle. Danny Welbeck scored the only goal in that one. The London Derby went the way of Spurs who scored three goals in eight minutes to beat West Ham four-one. Kudus had put the Hammers ahead before being sent off in that one. Four teams remain without a win. Southampton squandered a two goal lead at home to Leicester - Jordan Ayew scoring a 98th minute winner for the Foxes. Everton's good recent form continued - they picked up another three points following a two-nil win at Ipswich. Man United climbed to the lofty heights of eleventh in the table - Garnacho and Hojlund scored second half goals as Erik Ten Hag's side beat Brentford two-one at Old Trafford. Liam Keohan is the new leader in the October competition. A score of 47 points saw him move two points clear of Dylan Delaney in second place. Three people share third place - Darren O'Gorman, Kev Dalton and Robert Hynes - they're all just five points off the lead: |

October 25th to 27th - Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Man City beat Southampton one-nil to return to the top of the table. The big game of the weekend saw the points shared at Emirates where Arsenal and Liverpool shared the points. The Gunners lead twice through Saka and Merino but Liverpool earned a point through equalisers from Van Dijk and Salah. City now lead the Merseysiders by a point. Aston Villa had to settle for a point at home to Bournemouth. They looked to be heading for victory through Ross Barkley's goal but Evanilson scored an equaliser in the 96th minute. Chelsea are fifth in the table - Cole Palmer's early second half goal was the difference in a two-one win at home to Newcastle. There was a lot of late drama on Saturday. Brighton squandered a two-nil lead at home to Wolves, also conceding an injury time equaliser. Alex Iwobi looked to have scored the winner for Fulham at his old side Everton but Beto rescued a point for the Toffees at the death. Brentford came out on top in a seven goal thriller at home to Ipswich - Bryan Mbuemo scoring the winner in injury time. Jarrod Bowen's late penalty heaped more misery on Man United and under fire manager Erik Ten Hag. The Hammers won two-one to move ahead of their opponents who lost for a fourth time this season. Jean-Philippe Mateta's goal saw Crystal Palace record their first win of the season - they beat Spurs one-nil on Sunday. Finally, Nottingham Forest are in the top seven after two wins this week - a one-nil win at home to Crystal Palace and a three-one win at Leicester on Friday night. We're left with the awkward situation of four people tied for top spot in October - if there isn't a managerial departure between now and Thursday then first place will be shared by Anastas Popov, Darragh Kenny, Jimmy Maguire and Robert Hynes. Johno Percy finished fifth for the month - full details below: |
