January 4th and 5th - Liverpool's lead remains at six points despite dropping points this weekend. Man United showed up at Anfield in more ways than one and left with a point after a two-all draw. All the goals came in the second half - United were ahead through Lisandro Martinez. The leaders fought back and lead going into the final stages with goals from Gakpo and Salah. However, Amad Diallo had the final word scoring late on to ensure Ruben Almorin's side left Merseyside with a deserved point.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea failed to capitalise. Arsenal were held one-all by Brighton. Joao Pedro's controversial late penalty left Mikel Arteta fuming. Chelsea also drew one-all on the road. They shared the points with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Newcastle are fifth after another away win - they came from behind to win two-one at Spurs who are now twelfth. Man City beat West Ham four-one to record their first home win in a while. Erling Haaland scored twice in that one. Bournemouth are seventh are beating Everton one-nil - Sean Dyche finding himself under more pressure with his side only two points outside the relegation zone.

If Southampton were a racehorse they would have been pulled up by now - they lose five-nil at home to Brentford. The Saints have just six points from twenty games this season and are on course to succeed the Derby County team of 2007-08 as the worst side in Premier League history. Leicester remain second from bottom after a two-one defeat at Aston Villa. A good week for Ipswich saw them pick up a point after a two-all draw at Fulham. They're level on points with Wolves ahead of their game on Monday night.

Our first leaderboard of 2025 sees the lead shared by Aaron Nealon and Brendan Maguire with 61 points each. Joe O'Brien is in third place, three points behind the leaders. Gary Fitzpatrick is fourth followed closely by Gary Donnelly in fifth place - full details below:

January 18th and 19th - A double round of fixtures saw Liverpool maintain their six point lead at the top of the table. Diogo Jota headed an equaliser to earn a point at Nottingham Forest. Just when it looked like two more points might be dropped at Brentford, Darwin Nunez scored twice in injury time to get the Reds title bid back on track. Most of the contenders picked up four points from six this week - Arsenal came out on top in the North London Derby on Wednesday night, beating Spurs two-one. However, they squandered a two goal lead at home to Aston Villa on Saturday evening with Ollie Watkins heading home an equaliser as Unai Emery left his old employers with a point.

Nottingham Forest are level on points with Arsenal. They beat Southampton three-two on Sunday and have a six point cushion inside the top four. Man City let a two-goal lead slip at Brentford on Tuesday night but a six-nil win at Ipswich on Sunday saw them move back into the top four, ahead of Newcastle on goal difference. Eddie Howe's team saw their good run come to an end in spectacular fashion, losing four-one at home to Bournemouth on Saturday. Justin Kluivert scored a hat-trick at the ground were his father Patrick once played.

Man United's revival continues to be very stop-start. A late Amad Diallo hat trick secured a three-one win at home to Southampton on Thursday night but Brighton won by the same scoreline at Old Trafford on Sunday as the footballing world remembered the great Denis Law who passed away on Friday. Brighton are ninth in the table after two away wins this week having also won at Ipswich on Thursday.

David Moyes returned to Everton with two home games. The first saw them lose one-nil against Aston Villa but Sunday saw them record a three-two win at home to Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou's side fell to fifteenth after that defeat. The three promoted teams were in the bottom three on Sunday evening - Leicester also lost both games this week - losing two-nil at home to both Crystal Palace and Fulham.

A good start to 2025 continues for Joe O'Brien who now leads both the January monthly and overall season competitions. He's two points clear of Gary Fitzpatrick in second place. Jimmy Toner is in third place with Lionel Knott and Tommy Walsh sharing fourth place - it's all to play for with one round of games to go in the month:

January 25th and 26th - A comfortable four-one win at home to Ipswich maintained Liverpool's six point lead at the top of the table. Mo Salah's goal in that one saw him surpass Thierry Henry on the all time Premier League scoring list. Cody Gakpo's double was his eighth goal in his last seven starts at Anfield. Arsenal had to dig deep to win at Wolves. Riccardo Calafiori scored the winner inside the final twenty minutes as both sides finished with ten men.

Nottingham Forest's unbeaten run came to a spectacular end as they crashed to a five-nil defeat at Bournemouth. Dango Ouattara scored a hat-trick for the Cherries who climbed to seventh in the table, just a point outside the top four. Man City are fourth after a three-one win at home to Chelsea. Phil Foden's goal in that one was his sixth league goal of the month - a nice little bonus point earner for the six people that have him as a bonus choice.

Bottom placed Southampton took the lead at home to Newcastle but a double from Alexander Isak and a Sandro Tonali strike leaves Eddie Howe's side nicely positioned in fifth place, just behind Man City on goal difference.

David Moyes earned his second win since returning to Everton - his side won one-nil at Brighton. Iliman Ndiaye scored the winner from the penalty spot at the Amex as the Toffees moved seven points clear of the bottom three.

Sunday proved to a good day for the away teams. It's six defeats and a draw for Tottenham in their last seven league games - despite leading Leicester one-nil at half-time, Ange Postecoglou's side slipped to a two-one defeat. The win lifted Ruud Van Nistelrooy's side out of the bottom three. Bryan Mbeumo scored his fourteenth league goal of the season as Brentford won two-one at Crystal Palace - the Bees are now eleventh in the table. Man United picked up a good three points on the road. Lisandro Martinez scored the only goal as Ruben Amorin's side won one-nil at Fulham. West Ham were the only away team not to win on Sunday but they were still good value for a one-all draw at Aston Villa.

The ten points collected from correctly predicting the result at Villa Park helped Jimmy Toner win the monthly prize for January. The West Ham fan had three points to spare over Joe O'Brien in second place. Gary Fitzpatrick finished third, full details below:
